Karen harris

I grew up on a small farm above Big Hollow Creek just outside of Peoria, Illinois, a town on the banks of the Illinois River.  So flowing water is in my blood.  After earning a master's degree in Systematics and Ecology from the University of Kansas, I began a thirty-seven year science-teaching career at Bishop Kelley and Holland Hall High Schools in Tulsa.  After retirement, I started a small urban farm (Bad Dog Farm) in Tulsa and began helping Mike Appel and Emily Oakley at Three Springs Farm near Oaks on Spring Creek.  In addition to serving as Vice President of the Oxley Nature Center Association and chair of the All Souls Green Team, I have been a member of STIR and SCC and served this past year as a board member for SCC. As a property owner on Oklahoma's Illinois River, I understand the value of our streams and am passionately invested in the preservation of the Spring Creek watershed.

Martha Blackburn

I grew up in the Texas panhandle and moved to Northeast Oklahoma to a ranch on the Grand River. Throughout my years in Oklahoma, I have fallen in love with the its waters. I’ve been fortunate to have places on Grand, Hudson and a cottage near Lake Eufaula as well as a cabin on Spring Creek. I graduated from the University of Tulsa College of Law and practice in Tulsa. I have one beautiful daughter who has blessed me with three grandchildren. They have grown up enjoying life on the water. I became an SCC member and then a Board member to volunteer my time and efforts to protect our beautiful Spring Creek.
